Understanding the Challenge
Health outcomes are influenced by genetics, nutrition, and lifestyle—but that’s only part of the story. Many people face additional barriers such as limited access to trustworthy, relevant health information; inflexible appointment availability; feeling unheard; cultural disconnects in traditional healthcare settings; and weak communication between practitioners and clients. These challenges often result in mistrust and hesitation when seeking professional care.

Individuals of Black African and Afro-Caribbean heritage are statistically more likely to develop type 2 diabetes earlier in life—often around age 25—compared to other populations, where onset tends to occur closer to age 40.
These communities also face a significantly increased risk of high blood pressure when compared to the broader population.
Additionally, around 72% of adults from Black ethnic backgrounds are classified as overweight or living with obesity—representing the highest prevalence among all ethnic groups.

About Our Founder
Founder & Lead Dietitian
Welcome!
Our founder is a registered dietitian with years of experience working across both clinical and community-based healthcare settings. Her deep interest in nutrition stems from a passion for using food not only to nourish the body but also to prevent illness and promote long-term health. She believes that food should be both satisfying and meaningful—a source of enjoyment, connection, and wellbeing.
Her philosophy is grounded in mindful, balanced eating. She encourages people to feel confident in making food choices that support their health today and into the future—choices that also influence the wellbeing of loved ones and future generations.
With roots in Caribbean culture, she grew up understanding food as both medicine and celebration. While some traditional beliefs may not be scientifically supported, many can be thoughtfully integrated into a modern, balanced approach to health when guided appropriately.
At Sincerely Nourished, food is seen as a powerful expression of culture, identity, and community—which is why every recommendation is tailored to reflect your personal background and preferences.
